How to Perform
With the patient supine and the inner thigh and scrotum exposed, lightly stroke the skin of the upper inner (medial) thigh downward with a tongue depressor, an applicator stick, or the handle of a reflex hammer. Watch the scrotum on the stimulated side for the normal response: prompt contraction of the cremaster muscle that draws the ipsilateral testis upward. Compare both sides; the reflex is recorded as present or absent.
